February 23-24, 2023
Crowne Plaza Galleria, Manila
It is envisioned that the Summit will inspire all stakeholders to collaborate and work together more synergistically. It will serve as an opportunity to share knowledge, expertise, experiences, research, good practice models, best practices and social innovations, for promoting and advancing integrated, multidisciplinary, patient-focused, quality cancer care and management.
Provide a platform for cancer patients and survivors to share their cancer journeys, and enable healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders, to learn from their lived experiences.
Encourage strategic discussions among healthcare professionals, cancer advocates, program managers, and decision-makers on how to build capacities for health promotion and cancer prevention, better screening, early diagnosis, quality treatment and care, including survivorship care.
Pinpoint and discuss effective strategies, to create patient pathways, referral, and service delivery networks, for managing complex cancer cases that cannot be addressed in basic healthcare facilities.
Agree on actions to reduce the catastrophic effects of the financial burden of cancer care and treatment.
Explore how digital transformation and data science can strengthen evidence-based governance and empower patients and patient groups to make informed decisions and shape policy recommendation.
The Philippine College of Surgeons Cancer Commission Foundation (PCS CanCom) is a nationally recognized institution, duly registered in the Securities of Exchange Commission. Founded on December 2, 2019, it carries a vision of promoting quality cancer care across all regions and sectors in the Philippines.
Cancer Coalition Philippines (CCPh) is a national coalition of cancer patient organizations, health care providers, cancer advocates and champions engaging and working with government, policy makers, private sector, civil society, and international development partners. It aims to be the driving force in inspiring breakthroughs, catalyzing adoption of innovations and good practice models for safe, quality, accessible, affordable cancer care, better health outcomes and brighter futures for cancer patients, cancer survivors and their families.
The Philippine Cancer Society, Inc. (PCSI) is a private, non-stock, non-profit corporation registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 22 December 1956. It was founded by a group of laymen and medical doctors with the aim of “helping the Filipino cope with cancer by preventing it and diminishing death caused by it, especially among the disadvantaged, through information, education, advocacy and focused services.”
Cancer is now the THIRD leading cause of death in the country. Breast, Lung and Colorectal cancers are the top 3 incidence while Lung ranks number 1 in mortality.
The country has the National Integrated Cancer Control Act (NICCA) which aims to boosts cancer control efforts, improve survivorship and reduce burden of disease.
However, much remains to be done. Implementation of key provisions needs to be advanced and accelerated.
